Our recent AI Visibility Workshop with The Dawoodi Bohras explored a question that matters to every brand, institution and community:
When someone asks AI about you, will the answer know you?
The Answer Era is changing how people find businesses. However, it is also changing how they learn about communities, institutions and shared history.
Wizikey conducted the session with Aabhinna Suresh Khare for The Dawoodi Bohras, a close-knit global community with a history of more than 1,000 years and a presence across over 40 countries.
Murtaza Sadriwala and the Communications team hosted the workshop. Together, we explored how AI tools understand the community, which sources shape their answers and what teams can do to improve that picture.
Why AI Visibility Is Becoming Important ?
For years, online discovery meant appearing on the first page of Google.
People searched for a topic, opened a few links and decided what to read.
However, that behaviour is changing.
Today, people ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity direct questions. Google also shows AI-generated summaries and AI Overviews for many searches. Google says these AI search experiences help users explore information and reach relevant web sources in new ways.
As a result, users may get one direct answer instead of a long list of links.
That answer may mention only a few organisations, people or sources. Therefore, appearing in the answer itself now matters.
This shift sits at the heart of Answer Engine Optimization, or AEO. An AEO workshop helps teams understand how AI finds, reads and uses their information.
AEO does not replace SEO. Instead, it builds on it by helping AI tools understand, trust and cite information more easily.
Strong Communities Are Built Over Time
Strong communities do not happen by chance.
They grow through education, service, business, knowledge sharing and support for their members.
The Dawoodi Bohra community has carried its identity and values across generations. Families, institutions and traditions help pass this knowledge forward.
Yet AI does not learn this history on its own.
AI tools create answers from information they can find online. For example, they may use websites, media stories, public documents and trusted outside sources.
Therefore, communities must do two things.
First, they must preserve their knowledge.
Second, they must make that knowledge easy for people and AI tools to find and understand.
What Our AI Visibility Workshop Explored
People often treat AI visibility as a marketing issue.
However, the workshop showed that it goes far beyond brands.
Communities, schools, associations and cultural groups must also think about how AI describes them.
During the AI Visibility Workshop, we explored questions such as:How does AI describe the community today?
- Which websites and media sources shape those answers?
- What information appears most often?
- Which important facts are missing?
- How can the team improve future answers?
- What should the team begin tracking?
AI tools use several signals to create an answer. These may include website content, page structure, media coverage and public data.
Because of this, one person cannot manage AI visibility alone.
Leadership, communications, content, digital and web teams must work together.
This is also why media monitoring matters. Teams need to know which stories, facts and sources already shape the public view of their organisation. Wizikey’s guide to media monitoring explains how teams can track brand mentions, competitors, narratives and AI-led discovery in one connected setup.

Word of Mouth Is Evolving
Communities have always grown through word of mouth.
People learn about them through family, friends, colleagues and trusted institutions.
That will continue. However, AI now adds another layer.
People may ask AI questions they once asked another person: Who are The Dawoodi Bohras?
- What does the community believe?
- Where is the community present?
- What has the community contributed?
- Which sources offer reliable information?
So, the question is changing.
It is no longer only:
Who knows you?
It is also:
Will the answer know you?
More importantly:
Will the answer understand you correctly?
Why PR Matters for AI Search Visibility
A community’s website still matters.
However, AI may also refer to news stories, interviews, public documents and other trusted websites.
When several reliable sources repeat the same facts, AI gets a clearer picture.
That is why communications and PR matter for AI search visibility.
Their work does more than reach people. It also shapes the public information that AI may use.
For communications teams, this creates a new set of questions:Are we telling the right stories?
- Are our key facts easy to find?
- Do trusted publications describe us correctly?
- Are different sources sharing consistent information?
- Which parts of our story still need more visibility?
Wizikey helps PR and Corporate Communications teams track news, competitors, sentiment, social signals and important narratives across markets. You can explore how this works through Wizikey’s media monitoring platform.
Teams can also explore Ask Wizikey, which connects AI assistants with verified media intelligence.
Preparing for the Answer Era
The biggest takeaway from the workshop was simple:
Being visible is no longer enough.
Communities and institutions must make their knowledge clear, easy to find and easy to trust.
For a business, this may affect whether a buyer finds or considers it.
For a community, the impact may be much greater. It may shape how people understand its history, identity and contribution in the years ahead.
A big thank you to Murtaza Sadriwala and the Communications team for hosting us and creating space for this important conversation.
People are already asking AI.
Now, the work is to make sure the answer knows you.
